Art at Aikwood

Our walls have had a bit of a makeover and we've turned the Great Hall and bedrooms into real-life gallery spaces for local artists whose work we love!

The Scottish Borders is absolutely bursting with creative talent - this new project celebrates that and puts exciting artwork and businesses in front of our guests from around Scotland, the rest of the UK and the world.

We're delighted to kick off with an incredibly talented artist who lives and works just twenty miles down the road from us, Clare Brownlow.

Inspired by the beautiful Scottish Borders countryside and her worldwide travels, Clare is a sporting artist with a difference. She paints with pheasant feathers and ink to create simply stunning paintings of wildlife.

And they look breath-taking on the walls of Aikwood! It's so difficult to pick a favourite, but at the moment the Hares Fishing with gold leaf detail is a real contender.

All of Clare's pieces that we have on display are available for guests to enjoy during their stay and then buy if they'd like one of her unique pieces of art in their own home.  We also love her range of kitchenware, mugs, placemats and cards that make wonderful gifts.

There's already lots of thoughts about where next with this project - all very exciting!
